Most people I'm sure have spent their bank holiday doing something fun or exciting. I've spent mine painting our new kitchen what I thought from the matchpot square on the wall was egg yolk yellow only to find that when it covers the whole room it is quite a lot more orange than we'd expected. Never mind, it still complements the cherry units beautifully and still gives that 'pull through' from the Italianate decor in the conservatory.
It's taken me all day but the effect is well worth it.
Tonight, as most nights, David sits on his guitar stool, purloined from the conservatory where it had been used as a plant table since I bought it at a car boot sale for £3 about 6-7 years ago and strums while I cook. Last night he strummed along to 'Super Hits of the 70s' - yep, sad I know but one of my birthday pressies that means I don't have to get my 7" singles out quite so often any more. The whole double album was played and late in the evening we were to be found in 'the funky room' listening to Tavares - Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel. Wonderful.
Tonight's music? So far just strumming, I'll persuade him to do something more complicated in a few minutes after posting this pic, when I get down to the serious business of feeding us after a hard day's work.
BTW - don't look at the paintwork on the door - that's not my handiwork, I can't do the woodwork until the floor is in and the new window has been fitted. Then that hideous pink flowery door handle will go to the great doorhandle house in the sky to meet its maker and not before time....well, it'll get put in the Bracknell dump actually but it doesn't sound so exciting.
