When Geoff Hamilton died, I grieved as though I knew him....I felt I did. His wonderful kind personality shone out from every edition of Gardeners World and his special series like Cottage Gardens were so inspirational to me. I like to think a little of his spirit lives in my garden. I hate the garden makeover shows - a garden is for life, not just for a weekend!

Geoff taught me many things, above all patience and respect for nature. He also taught me to make use of everything you have at your disposal....so, that pile of rubble is now somewhat smaller as many of the whole and half bricks have become this path, running across the front of the greenhouse and inside down the centre.

Behind Rosie is the start of my new herb garden - my old one was dug up to make way for the new patio behind the house. It's fuller now, I added Chives, Golden Marjoram, Common Sage, Garden Mint and Common Thyme today.

Geoff - thank you for a lifetime of inspiration and love of the good earth.
