Here is a photo of a cutie puppy. She’s not really a puppy as anyone who’s been around these pages a while will know only too well. In fact, she’s going to be three in a few weeks’ time. She’s an interloper today because I’d been lining up a shot of JD by bribery and couldn’t get the shot I wanted – more on that later. Then I noticed that Lola was behaving like a model dog and sitting in a lovely pose so I quickly snapped her and it was the best of the shots I took so here she is.
JD was supposed to be my subject – a shot of him with a really mucky face. He is trying to put Reckitt Benckiser out of business by removing the need to use Finish in the dishwasher. He is a fiend. If I open the dishwasher to take out its contents, he’s nowhere to be seen. If, however, I open it to stack mucky dishes inside, he’s there like a shot. He cranes his head as far inside as he can reach. He will displace plates and bowls in his eagerness to lick off whatever tasty morsel is on them. He has even been known to lick pans that have just been taken from the stove and placed inside the dishwasher still hot!
His problems arise when I have stacked the top shelf first because whatever is in the cups and glasses that go into the top layer slides out of its receptacle and onto his snout. Today his white parts of his snout are dappled with a mix of coffee and tomato juice. Of course he can’t access the drips to clean himself up and so he bears his battle scars with pride until they fall off naturally.
The reason why his photo didn’t make the cut was that the bright sunshine blew out the highlights on his white patch and therefore the muck didn’t show. So, in a circular posting, here is a picture of a cutie puppy.
For anyone who is concerned about whether or not we continue to buy Finish the answer is NO! Since Aldi opened its doors in our little town, we buy their own brand at about ¼ of the price of Finish. I’ve not noticed any lack in cleaning ability either. So, don’t worry if you come here for a meal. Our plates and dishes are perfectly hygienically clean!
One little rant for today - to the British Government - you bunch of greedy bastards. It'll be too late when we've got no food because we've got no bees. I was utterly appalled to hear our government voted against the EU neonicotinoid ban today. David Cameron should be stripped of his presidency of the Oxfordshire beekeepers association with immediate effect for being so greedy as to side with big business agrochemical firms rather than good sense and reason. (OOOps - apparently he is no longer in the role! Apparently his association with them "recently came to an end" - jumped or pushed I wonder?) Even if the case isn't yet proven absolutely, the risks of allowing these chemicals to continue to be sold are too great to play chance with. Has no-one learned anything since Silent Spring?
