8th August 2009 - they came from outer space

Hee hee.

It was a dark night here on the moor. There were loud sounds all around. It sounded like music. It sounded like people partying. It sounded fun. The night was as dark, as dark could be. Until, that is, a strange orange beast came along, spewing light from inside. The people were drawn to the light. There was much coming and going.

Then a strange thing happened. Two creatures came towards me out of the light. They were moving wildly. They were dancing.

Then another strange thing happened. One of the two creatures from outer space identified herself as being Emily. Emily has a Dad. Nothing strange in that you may think but what is strange is that her dad has been following my pbase for years. He even communicated with me briefly a couple of years ago. He told me he loved my diary and was a local chap, living in a village just yards from where we used to live.

I was a bit circumspect because you know what it’s like when you first encounter someone, it’s a good idea to be a bit careful about what you say to them. Just in case. I’m sure you don’t need me to be more specific.

Anyway, when we hired Emily, her sister Gayle and cousin Corrie for our wedding, Gayle told me her Dad was the chap who’d contacted me. Tonight, the strange brightly lit beast in the background of this shot is an AA truck attending the broken down car of Emily’s grandparents and while I look on, I’m chatting to Pete who I met in a cyber sense years ago, but only had the pleasure of really meeting him and his lovely wife Lucy tonight. Not only that but he turns out to be the brother of a friend.

The truth can really be stranger than fiction.

It happens to me once in a while that a non-pbase stranger pops up and says that they have been reading my diary for years and finally leave me a message. I’m always thrilled when it happens and it’s happened again this week. So “yasou” to you too Marianne – thanks for your kind words.
