Lens Test - Tamron 55-200 mm 1:4-5.6 vs. Canon EF-S 55-250 mm 1:4-5.6 IS

I have Tamron 55-200 lens since July 2006. Two days ago bought new Canon 55-250 IS. Main reason was lack of image stabilization, which made Tamron usable only on tripod or during bright sunny day. Here is my unprofessional test of the two lens.
Canon autofocus is faster comparing to Tamron, but not as fast as Canon EF-S 17-85.

Price is quite different - I paid 87 EUR for Tamron (that also includes lens hood) and 299 EUR for Canon.

Wow, the Tamron is excellent. The difference between the lenses seem to due to exposure. The Tamron over exposed at 55mm f4 and underexposed the others. The Canon had much more consistent exposure. Resolution wise, they both look equal. Conclusion - maybe learn to use Histogram on camera and get Tamron. Mind you there is no IS on the Tamron while at the same time there is no IS on the Tamron to break either.

To Malk:
All samples posted here were taken using stable tripod, mirror lockup and 2 sec self timer. So handshake could not affect resolution.

I dont think he used a tripod for this test, he just says that with the Tamron it was a necessety to use a tripod on days that wasnt sunny.
