Tall Ships 2009 Challenge: Bermuda

The Tall Ship Atlantic Challenge 2009 is underway. The race began in Vigo, Spain and continued on to Tenerife, Canary Islands, and then to Bermuda. The ships are now in the U.S., and from there will race to Canada and then finally to Belfast, Northern Ireland.

While in Bermuda, between 11 and 15 June, the Tall Ships helped us celebrate our 400th Anniversary. The Tall Ships set sail on 15 June, bound for Charleston SC.

Most of the images in this gallery were taken on board the "Pride of Baltimore ll", which was first in its class to cross the line, in Charleston, and first overall. We did a fine job!!.

I was looking for photos of the Pride of Baltimore on the internet, and happened across your photos. They are absolutely fantastic; I really enjoyed looking at them and was even more surprised and delighted to discover your photo of my niece Lisa & her husband Raymond amongst them. I have shared this photo with them on Facebook, so imagine you will have a lot more visitors. What a fantastic experience to make this crossing, and to have captured such wonderful memories. Hi Jolene, I was very surprised and excited to see you on the Pride of Baltimore, you appear to live a very exciting and fulfilling life.I believe you told me it was a last minute decision and I am glad you went for it I thought of you many times and wondered how well you were keeping up on the high sees, (trust no sea sickness) Thanks very much for sending me the link to your pictures. The pictures are beautiful, amazing and interesting covering many areas. Those ships are so amazing when gliding through the water from a distance, was it similar on board? The scenes from St. Davids along with these are picturesque even with choppy water. Kindest Regards Claire Durrant
