No way any pigeon is allowed on my lap; I agree with Stu's label of "flying rats". But the younger one seems to be enjoying it, while the other's mind may be far away in space or (more likely) time. I also find this one a bit sad.

Now I can imagine the young one having shifted right in 60 years. And I know that in the meantime, her sentimental life will have taken over, and she won't have cared for pigeons anymore. A sweet and sour image in a way.

I do like this one. Opposite ends of the generation spectrum but both equally comfortable with the flying rats. Don't think I'd want them on my lap.
