street children no. 2

Another shot of the street children but this one affected me in a different way.
Though they may be forced to make a living from begging, their true spirit never dies.
Children are always children, blessed with qualities of warmth, intelligence, playfulness, purity
and wide-eyed wonder. Simple pleasure like sweets would easily put a big smile on their faces.
One of my most treasured moments was when I bought ice-cream for a little boy.
His beaming face has not left my mind since then...

Fantastic. As with most of your photography, a strong emotional impact.

That might sound inapropriate - or a lack of sensitivity - but I first find these kids beautiful, and that makes me forget about why they are there. Excellent natural framing, and interesting choice of focus.

I got Sarah singing in my head, "Your love is better than ice cream..." And he took both away with him...ice cream and your love.

Wonderful image...and yes, they seem very happy.

I agree with all you say, Ai Li -- these kids may be beggars but they are also children, and you have found the child in them here. As travelers, we are continually faced with a moral choice: if we give beggars such as these children money, much of it will eventually go to adults, who may or may not use it productively. By giving them money, we only encourage the practice of begging as well. To be surrounded by hordes of beggars in a strange city is not a pleasant experience for a traveler. Yet this is the face of poverty, and we must feel compassion for these children at the same time. Perhaps you have found the best solution: buying the little boy an ice cream was a pure act of kindness on your part. His life was made brighter by your gift, and your trip was enhanced as well.

Yes,childhood and innocence would never be deprived but sadly they are in some parts
of the world. Another emotional capture!

All the best to them, wish them can go to school or job instead of begging!!!!!!!!Good luck for them

A completely different emotion coming from this one. They have such beautiful eyes! The innocence shows through. My heart goes out to these little ones. V

your children photos from India are so truthful and full of life.
I see poverty, need, a little fear.. but above all I see innocence, hope, and joy still in their faces..

a daring closeup shot many would try to avoid.the sad face of developing india, all they talk about is how fast and dramatic the development in the country´s financial sector is,but i wonder when these things will change for these poor children.
