Test2

Click on "large" to see more of a bird's eye view, then view at "original". There are 4 sets of crops on this page, with set 3 different in that it is displayed in a COLUMN. That is, the Sigma is the left 3 crops and the Canon is the right 3 crops. All the other sets are ROWS (going across). Note the "warmer" tone of the Sigma EX lens.

other sizes: small medium large original

wow!!!, thx for the amazingly fast answer :s
mh, this makes the choice more difficult again. the yellowish colour was really a huge negative point for me.
now it's up between
sharpness (especially at the corners), price (~€200 difference) and build quality (I loved the old days lenses for that) for the sigma ( and its more simple and solid look :) )

and wider aperture, less vignetting (don't know which effect using filter will have on both compared to one another. any idea? ) and better respons to difficult light conditions for the canon ... can be very important (I'm taking primarly architecture shots, and love to play with contrast-zones of windows/shadows inside, with the lightsource in front if benific)
(I don't mind the 2mm difference at the long end :p )
I guess I should try them myself in a store to feel and se the difference. argh :d
well, great thx for all the info!!

Yes, doing a custom WB will remedy any "warm" tint. Hope this helps.

if you take your picture using a custom white balance taken with the lens (sigma 10-20 compared to canon 10-22), do you still get that yellowish tint?
I ask that because I don't work with raw but I almost always take custom white balance on location.
If that takes away the tint-difference (that really does botter me here), it could make me turn back into favor of the sigma although I was planning to buy the canon.
and, btw, thanks a lot for all these testings!! they are really usefull

I don't think one "must" shoot in RAW for the Sigma; it's an excellent lens, just like the Canon. Both have solid resolution performance being UWAs.

I can see Sigma beeing sharper in these tests, but not in the others you have posted. Shooting RAW is must with Sigma though because you end up make more corrections to the images from Sigma.
