Here you will find many tests showing sharpness, contrast, bokeh, and chromatic aberrations. Of particular interest is "Test 8" as it shows sharpness/color/CA of each lens at the "money apertures" of f1.4/f1.8/f2.0/f2.2/f2.5/f2.8.

Exposures were mostly equivalent, give or take a few.

The Canon test shots seem slightly underexposed compared to those of the Sigma in many of these tests. I think this affects the impression of sharpness and contrast so as to exagerrate the Sigma advantage. Another individual who tested these lenses head to head http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1291043) noted the difference in exposure between these two lenses.
