Het Indiase Vrouwen Hof werd geopend met het "Lied van de Cike", een cirkel van zorg. De "Cike" is een stok, die moeders in Ethiopië geven aan hun dochters wanneer ze trouwen. Een symbool van weerstand, van de macht die ze heeft over haar eigen leven, een vorm van bruidsschat die gedwee in een hoek blijft liggen, tenzij en totdat de man een daad van geweld op zijn vrouw pleegt en zo de vrouw aanzet om de stok mee uit huis te nemen, en rustig op het centrale gemeenschapsplein van het dorp te gaan zitten. Langzaam aan zien ook de andere vrouwen af van hun huishoudelijke taken en verzamelen ze zich met hun eigen Cikes rond de mishandelde vrouw in een collectieve actie van geweldloos protest. Ze voeren een daad van burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid tegenover de man, totdat deze, onder druk van de andere mannen van het dorp die hun vrouwen terug thuis willen, komt en zich verontschuldigt tegenover zijn vrouw en haar mee naar huis neemt.
"Luister naar de klank van hun dansende voeten… luister naar de toon van hun zwevende gedachten… luister… luister…"

The Indian Women's Court opened with the "Song of the Cike" a circle of caring. The "Cike" is a stick that is given in far off Ethiopia by the mothers to their daughters when they get married. A symbol of resistance; a power that she has over her own life; a form of dowry that lies docilely in a corner unless and until an act of violence from the husband pushes the woman to bring it out of the house and sit quietly with it in the centre of the village commons. Slowly the other women too abandon their household tasks and gather around the violated woman with their own Cikes in a non violent action of collective protest. They sit in an act of civil disobedience until the man, pressurised by the men of the village comes and apologises to his wife and takes her home.
"Listen to the sounds of their feet dancing… listen to the sound of their thoughts flying… listen… listen…"

Le Tribunal des Femmes Indiennes s'est ouvert avec la "chanson de la Cike", un cercle de soins. Le "Cike" est un bâton qui est donné en Éthiopie par les mères à leurs filles quand elles se marient. Un symbole de résistance, un pouvoir qu'elle a sur sa propre vie, une forme de dot sagement placée dans un coin jusqu'à ce que le mari pose un acte de violence et pousse la femme à le faire sortir de la maison. Les femmes s'assoient tranquillement avec elle dans le centre de la chambre centrale du village. Lentement, les autres femmes abandonnent leurs tâches domestiques et se rassemblent autour de la femme violée avec leur propre "Cike" dans une action non violente de protestation collective. Elles sont assises pour un acte de désobéissance civile jusqu'à ce que l'homme, mis sous pression par les hommes du village arrive à s'excuser auprès de sa femme et l'amène chez elle.
"Écouter le bruit de leurs pieds qui dansent ... écoutez la musique de leurs pensées ... écoutez ... écoutez ... "
