At 27th and 28th of June 2009 Vimochana held a two day film festival, Daughters of Fire, in collaboration with Bangalore FIlm Society and Alliance Francaise focussing on twin issues of violence against women ranging from dowry, sex selective abortions, trafficking to changing traditions and the issue of seeking justice and other notions of justice. The film festival is being hold on the occasion of the India Women’s Court on Dowry and Related Forms of Violence Against Women that took place in July.

The festival was inaugurated by B.Jayashree, Theatre and Film artist and Director of Rangayana and the discussions in the two day festival included Gargi Sen of Magic Lantern, Manjusha, Film Maker, Kiratna Kumar, Theatre Artist and Siddharth of Bangalore Film Society.
