12 - Perspective Café - Challenge 3

PURPOSE: to open new perspectives, to set concrete little steps and big steps AND to engage us for those steps
METHODE: Perspective Café
We formulate three strong challenges. Around those challenges we work for 30’ in little groups of maximum 10 around a table, afterwards we move to a new table, new women, new theme.
Course conversation: 3’ to think and to note ; 20’ conversation ; 7’ conclusiontime : note in 3 sentences …

CHALLENGE 3: ACT NOW
On this moment there are conflicts and wars going on. If we don’t want to say in ten years ‘we should have done something’ then we have to act NOW…..
The situation in Ukraine, Russia, Armenia, Kosovo, Serbia, Palestine, Israel etc.
What can and must we do NOW before it is too late ?
CONCLUCION QUESTION: Give three concrete actions which we can start now

RESULTS of the round tables:
1. See workshop 8 of yesterday UNSC R 1325 and peace keepers
2. Actions, performances and letters in front of embassies
3. Ask and denounce responsibility of each government
3a Support women in Spain on abortion
3b Media and lies
3c Arms and military forces
3d Humanitarian help
4. Organize actions against war ; supporting peace movement and deserters; and against repression and persecution of women’s rights groups (Livni coming to London on the 15th of May with immunity)
5. Education of younger generations
6. Protest against sales of weapons (London has the biggest arms fairs in Europe)
7. Push for EU governments to stop support for the authoritarian regimes – WIB Belgrado needs your support.
8. To give information to public media on situation in country in conflicts – different than others that are focused only on killing and suffering, but on culture, context, peace work from feminist point of view and more complete image.
9. Investigate activities / role of the government in your country involved in conflict in other countries and make pressure on government
10. Dedicate vigils to conflict in the way that you use music from the country in conflict; get in contact with people from that country living in our country; learn about the reality of the country in conflict
11. Support women in conflict/ post conflict eg Bosnia, Syria To meet/engage
12. Generate counter information by diffusion of feminist witness/knowledge to challenge government bias through global networks
13. Support women suffering violence in conflict , no matter it is by military or peacekeepers
14. Make a list with conflicts and there common causes from which they started
15. Appui pour les femmes qui sont sur le terrain et stratégies pour exiger leur présences aux conférences de paix et de reconstruction
16. A day against war in all the European countries using real situations to motivate the participation.
17. Facilitate encounters of women out of regions and countries in conflict to enable authentic recognition of each other to avoid stereotypes etc
18. Claim our own governments to respect the resolutions de l’ ONU (1325 and others) in favor of women.
19. Important to have more women’s delegations that go to national foreign affair ministry, and to EU institution to ask explications
20. Collect and share true information on conflict getting it from groups women – feminist – who live there,
21. Define a common day or date to go out as WIB against the same war(s), with the same words.
22. Change the game : give greater value and roles to non-aggressors and women who have a fundamental strike incl. peacebuilding and disarmament
23. We must spread information , make the people conscient and make our voice more heard
24. We must find bridges between civilian populations in the war situations
25. We must use the new media you tube, web pages to attract young people
26. Stop the arms trade and the manufacture of arms – write letters to our governments and petitions
