ABOUT ME, ABOUT MY GALLERIES... …You'll find a mix of flowers, birds (hummingbirds are my favorite),animals, nature and a lot of what can be found in my own backyard. My backyard is the San Francisco Bay Area as I do occasionally venture beyond the dwelling I live in. I also occasionally visit outside of California so you might find something new once in a while. When recently asked how long I have been taking pictures; I had to stop and think because my first picture taking was around age 7 or 8....just long enough for my parents to discover that most of the film was being wasted on blurred pictures . So the Brownie was gone almost as soon as I got it. However by the time I reached high school I was totally enamored with the Polaroid Land Camera. Instant gratification! As long as that wonderful new technology existed, I could take pictures at my own expense! When I married in 1968 I packed up my camera and headed to the East Coast with my husband. It didn't take him long to figure out the added expense of that camera. I think we traded it for an old typewriter. I was without a camera until our children were born and then took pictures of them constantly. Meanwhile my husband bought the Canon AE-1 which we still have today. My very first hummingbird pictures were taken with that camera! When digital arrived the Sony Mavica was bought for business (600 x 480). Of course I had to have one too! I packed boxes of floppy disks along with the camera for a trip to Alaska. Yes I still have some of those dinky images. Then it was on to an early 1 Mega Pixel Olympus and finally the dream Olympus E-20. Then I needed to learn to print and of course I needed to learn Photoshop and so on... Today I shoot with the Canon 40D & still use the 20D on occasion. I have 3 favorite lenses, the 100 mm Macro, the 70-200 mm f4 IS and the 100-400 mm f4 IS.
I am still an instant gratification junkie...so please stay awhile and enjoy some of my favorite shutter clicks. |
