South African Airways Boeing 747SP ZS-SPC 'Maluti' was landed for the last time by Capt Dennis Spence at Rand Airport near Germiston, south of Johannesburg early on Saturday 30 September 2006. Thousands of people turned out to watch this once off 'display' as this aircraft will never be able to leave Rand Airport again. Now the charge of the SAA Museum society, she was parked on a compacted hardstand close to the Transvaal Aviation Club - where she will be open to the public in due course. The resting place also hosts a number of other SAA stalwarts like a De Havilland Dove and another 7474SP, ZS-SAN 'Hantam'.
