What you see in the picture is a 16Kbit (2Kb) EPROM. Those were the
first type of non-volatile memory you can erase and reprogram. You can
see them as the great-grandmother of the CF and SD cards.
The chip itself is visible though a quarz window because you need UV
radiation to erase the contents of the chip.
The EPROM is considered one of the key technologies for the development
of the personal computer.

About the picture itself, it was taken with a Canon 6D + EF-FD adapter +
FL Bellows + Canon Macro Photo 35mm F2.8 at F4. The magnification is 5
to 6X.
