I also forgot to mention that for this shot I could certainly have used tilt, but that would have slightly degraded the corners too, so I opted for the focus stack.

I was going to do something with knives and my 135L at f5.6 or so, but really, that’s too easy. Sharp corners at 17mm is another matter, even for the Canon TS-E 17mm. That’s why I shot this at f11 (better in the corners than f5.6 with a close subject) AND focus stacked 4 images to make sure the first was focused close (probably at 4-6 inches) to get the sharpest corners possible. Also I figured it was fitting since if you’ve ever been out there in Death Valley, you’ll know how sharp that salt stuff is.
