Seussical the Musical

Even if you aren’t a big fan of Seuss, you’d have found the Broadway Bound Childrens’s Theatre (of Seattle) performance of the Dr Seuss-centric “Seussical” enchanting and hilarious at the same time. No doubt helped by a brilliant cast of kids, great costuming, and a live quartet performing the catchy tunes.

Unexpectedly captivating and totally enjoyable even while distracted by the camera. I was lucky to have an aisle seat. The G7 was easy to use in stealth mode – turned the LCD as dark as possible and turned off all sounds and flash, including AF assist beam. Mainly used shutter priority at 1/25 which seemed to be the sweet spot as far as camera shake with mid focal lengths and subject movement – a little motion blur works well here, I think. Switched off between iso200 and 400 depending on light levels, and you really have to look at 100% to see any noise in the images – pretty impressive.

These images are straight from the camera, some of the first (through 0079) were auto white balance, then the rest are tungsten, which I think are a little more accurate. The camera was left on the entire time (nearly 2 hours including intermission) and I nearly filled a 2 gb card with about 300 stills and several movies, but the battery still showed full charge at the end. Probably helped that the display brightness was turned down and display set to turn off (sleep) at 20 seconds.
