Wonderful composition and color! V
I would like to paint this, and several others in this gallery... someday when I have time again. I will, of course, ask permission first.

You have a masterpiece here Yiannis, you're a Rembrandt with your lens and eye. Great shot.

Wonderfull portrait, with the window as a frame and the icon calendar(?) behind; the light is so nice and the portrait looks like an old painting. Great picture. V

Kind of image you could see in Portugal. I have been amazed with some similarities between Greece and Portugal.
Leslie Cohelan07-Oct-2006 15:32
the light and color are sudued but it is the framing that really sets this composition apart

A lot of character in the surrounding elements, the peeling paint, the net curtains, the icon on the wall and an expression to match

I like your composition on this - with so much window. It still draws us to her face.. her as the main focus.. but it also lends an air of watching her to the viewer.. watching from the street as we pass

Excellent portrait! From the woman's expression, this looks like the sum of her existence, a daily ritual of watching the world go by interspersed with the occasional daydream of more youthful days. Vote, for sure!

Yiannis, this is one of your best images EVER. It has excellent detail, beautiful toning, and the light balance is perfect, from the well lit front, to the still well visible back. The woman has a face of great character. And last but not least, the composition is masterful. Big vote.

A splendid, meaningful portrait, The scene is full of movement and rich of important elements, I like the perspective and all what we can perceive inside the room. It speak to us of memories, spontaneous devotion, it tell us a story of a life.
The subject, the old lady, is so intense and fascinating in her a little melancholy expression. I deeply appreciate also the harmony of hues, all on the same brownish and crème tones.
A great capture.
Marisa
