The Lanner Falcon is a large falcon (43050 cm length; 95-105 cm wingspan) that breeds in Africa, southeast Europe and just into Asia. This falcon is a bird of open country and savanna.
It typically hunts by horizontal prusuit, rather than dropping from height as does the Peregrine Falcon. The wild Lanner Falcon numbers are declining in Europe. Lanner Falcons are bred in captivity for falconry and the photos in this gallery are of a captive Falcon used by a falconer in Alabama.
