Found on Pecan Tree bark, Opelika, AL
This specimen is believed to be the larval stage of one of the larger members of the family Noctuidae.
It is thought to be the larva of an Underwing moth, probably in the genus Catocala.

Okay. Now see, I would not be doing that. I must admit he is beautiful in an intricate sort of way. And he was a little hard to see (the disguise is working!) in the last shot.
