Note: Fungi are very specific to insects. The fungi invade insects
by penetrating ther cuticle or skin. When inside the insect,
the fungus rapidly multiplies and the insect death is caused
by tissue destruction and occasionally by fungal toxins. The
fungus emerges from the insect to produce spores that in this
case, have the whitish appearance.
This weevil appeard to die relatively quickly in that it was
still attached to the leaf and stem of the plant.
