This is one of very few modern buildings in the city of Paris, and it stands out in stark contrast the many building around it, both in terms of its design and its height. No building within the city itself stands over 10 stories tall (at least none that we ever saw), but the Montparnasse tower stands at nearly 60 stories tall. For a small fee, you can take an elevator to the top and get a view from the roof. Its not quite as beautiful as the view from the Eiffel Tower, but its the only place where you can see the Eiffel tower from well above the skyline.
