Ulugh Beg Madrassa
The oldest and most beautiful of the three madrassas in the Registan Ensemble, Ulugh Beg's legacy is appropriately educational. The madrassa housed at least 100 students under the tutelage of the finest scholars of the age both in Islamic and secular sciences. Legend claims the ruler himself lectured here on astronomy, his passion, reflected in the panoply of azure-blue stars on the 35 metre portal
