We were always grateful for the opportunity of stocking up at the various stations. The Russian dining car was sometimes less than desirable - often lacking in food listed on the menu.
It is said that the dining car attendants often had a side business of selling their stock to people at stations along the way. Besides, the prices were pretty high in the dining car!
