Our last full day of vacation we'd planned to just relax at our mountain house all day but the day was just too pretty. Mid-afternoon, I suggested we go for "one last hike in the GSMNP". We looked for one that was closer to our location but not too long in duration. We picked Gabe's Mountain Trail that ends at Hen Wallow Falls. In all, it was a 4.5 mile roundtrip (mountainous) hike that took us just under 3 hours to complete. Other than stopping for 5-10 minutes at the falls, we only stopped long enough for me to snap pictures here and there as things caught my eye. During that long hike, we saw a total of only 4 people on that whole trail!! The type of terrain seemed to change every 15-30 minutes but all was SO beautiful! This gallery is not in chronological sequence, as I wanted it to end at the Falls themselves, which was our destination, but several photos were taken as we traversed back down the mountainside.
