Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run June 24-25, 2006

The runners thought they were going to face miles of snow in the high country...and they did. What they did not expect was the record 107 degree heat that blanketed the trail from Squaw to Auburn. 50% of runners DNF'd and overall finish times were about 2 hours slower than usual. It was a tough day for everyone and those who did not finish were in the company of some phenomenal runners. I was touched by the perseverence of the runners.
