Intro to the 2004 Badwater Ultramarathon

This album is about how I got intereted in running Badwater and also about my training in the months leading up to the race. Since I only average about 25 miles per week, I had to do some longer races and more mileage in May and June.

I ramped up my anemic weekly mileage when David and I ran 70 miles of the Western States trail over Memorial Day weekend

Then, Wendy, Cheryl, Gunhild & I (the Quad Squad) ran a 220-mile Ameri-cana Relay from Nelson BC to Sandpoint, ID

The Relay was excellent Badwater training.  The hills were nearly as steep as Towne Pass (if only they were miles longer!)

Being that we had only 4 runners, we caught only brief naps--if that-- in the back of the van

We ran through the night into the next morning - great training. This is near the Canadian border.

The only ultra team of 4 females vs 12-runner teams:  We finished 4th place overall in 36hrs 32 mins!
