2. Peel about half the backing off and affix to the outside of the midfoot and pull across the arch

You will eventually get the hang of how to angle the tape towards the inside of the ankle as you come up from the inside of the arch. The tape is stretchy, so it will move. You don't want creases in the tape. Don't worry - you'll get the hang of it.
