As the crowd chanted �Stop the bombing,� and displayed placards reading �Save Lebanon� and �Stop the US-Israeli Assault,� the spirited protest drew the intrigue of many tourists and passersby visiting busy Bayside Pavilion. Participants proudly held Lebanese and Palestinian flags. Many of the protesters were Arab Americans originally from Lebanon. There was a strong multinational representation of students from local universities and colleges. Samer Abdulaziz, the protest organizer said, �Innocent children�s bodies are scattered out in the streets. Their stomachs are bulging out of their bodies. People are seeing their homes being demolished and their parents are lying dead in front of them. Schools are being leveled to the ground. �There is not any electricity, food, or water. Aid workers cannot reach the affected people. We need a cease fire right now. Israel must get out of the land they are currently occupying and Israel must also withdraw from Shebaa Farms occupied since 1982. At that time, Israeli soldiers can be exchanged for Lebanese prisoners,� Abdulaziz continued. �This is a criminal occupation,� said John Peter Daly from the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism); as he went on to explain the Israeli tactics of collective punishment against both the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. �More than 80 per cent of the targets have been civilian targets,� noted Daly. Daly linked the war to the worsening condition of U.S. workers, citing another protest taking place across town in the African American community against the South Florida housing crisis. �Billions have been sent to Israel�to repress the Palestinian people and destroy the infrastructure of Lebanon. We say cut U.S. aid to Israel�use the money for housing here!� �If the U.S. wants to stop terrorism they can start right here in Miami and arrest the right-wing Cuban paramilitary groups, and also free the Cuban Five who are imprisoned for fighting to stop terrorism,� said Mike Martinez from the Bolivarian Youth as he addressed the crowd. Ahmed Sachedina from the United Muslim Foundation commented that the spirit of the protest had a �true sense of justice transcending race, religion and national origin.� Other speakers included representatives from the Arab American Institute, Paul LeFrak from Broward Anti-War Coalition and Dr. Moiez Tapia from the University of Miami. Many of the organizers and participants pledge to mobilize for the statewide march and rally in Orlando on Aug. 12 to stop the criminal occupation and war against Lebanon and Palestine. What a bunch of sad ignorant people these are. The casualties of war are people - on both sides. Lebanon cannot simply expect Israel to sit and take the rockets, raids, kidnappings, killings etc of its innocent citizens and do nothing. Hezbollah clearly provoked this and could end it immediately if it complied with the fair and just demands of Israel - stop the rockets and kidnappings etc. But no. Iran does not want it to end yet - they fund and train Hezbollah - they have the world's attention off their nuclear programme and are stirring muslims to more hate against the West. You might note too that the children's lives are in the hands of Hezbollah. If they came out like men in the open away from Lebanese citizens, then the number of innocent dead would be reduced dramatically. That Hezbollah fights like this in amongst ordinary people is against international law - using innocents as shields. Obviosuly Hezbollah has no concern whatsoever for the lives of Lebanese people... They are just a sick tool for publicity purposes - hate the West. But this is really all about Iran's stated quest of removing Israel from the face of the earth and then making the world muslim. Blinded by religious BS, they think they can have the world and the acquistion of nucelar weapons is part of their plan... They are mad with religious nonsense. Seems we all worship and are of the same god but somehow muslims think thsi same god is with them alone. Now that is mad. The truth is that if we get rid of Iran's extremist religious government, we will have peace. Peace is there it be had if peaceful people seek it - Iran's religious warmongers will never find peace.

If Lebanon wants the violence to cease, it needs to get Hezbollah outa there..and stop the violence aimed at Isreal I'm amazed Isreal held back this long, and let's keep in mind..Isreal has no nearby friendly countries to flee to, and they also own some really big weapons that they haven't used yet. Apparently, there are no good Israelis, and no bad Arabs.

Israel Gave up the Gaza Strip as a way to " Help" with peace. As soon as the last soldier from Israel pulled out. Israel was bombed again. Bottom line line is Israel has 6 million soul surrounded by 220 million other souls in 21 countries that would like to shove them right into the sea. If Israel wasn't such a touch nation , they would be shoved and bombed into the sea. Maybe Lebanon should do a better job of controlling the people in charge of bombing Israel in the first place after Israel gave up the Gaza Strip for " Short Term Perceived Peace" .. Hey, that's kind of what we did with our freedoms in this country after 911............

If photography is supposed to provoke emotion, bravo. Good job. The photos are disturbing because of the ignorance of those holding some of the signs. Shame on those that have children holding political action signs in which they have no idea as to what they say. For example, the 4th picture of the child holding a sign telling Israel to stop killing childrnen now...as if that is Israel's intent. The sign should say something about the terrorists purposely hiding in residential neighborhoods, hiding weapons in the homes of civilians, and drawing attacks toward such areas to gain sympathy and to make Israel look bad. As for the photos, nice work. You have stirred to pot!

It might help if the governments of Lebanon and Palestine got their collective acts together and stopped threatening Israel. Have you forgotten the suicide bombers, rockets and kidnappings that came from these countries? Peace will come when the terrorists are eliminated. What do you expect when these countries have chosen Iran and Syria as their allies?
