We're always somewhere...whether it be in our inner worlds or outer worlds. This piece, "Butterflies" deals with my inner world and outer world coming together for an afternoon. My 18 year nephew is leaving for college next month. This piece is dedicated to all of our hearts that have loved and watched our amazing children grow up and will now fly away.
I took my finished piece of art out onto my block and started placing the piece in different settings. Metaphorically, placing this canvas of “Butterflies” was an exercise for me to move forward with accepting my nephew leaving. Seeing him (as the art piece) in all sorts of places in the world was the shift I needed to get me through this week. (Emphasis on “this week”). I see him thriving and exploring. He’s 18 and he’s safe and he’s enjoying. After all, I was 18 and I was safe and enjoyed and thrived. Onward.
