BONNETHEAD SHARK (Sphyrna tiburo)

Mote Aquarium - Sarasota, Florida

The Bonnethead is a small, timid, common hammerhead shark, about 3.3 feet in length, and is harmless to people. The Bonnethead is viviparous, which means that females produce eggs which are retained and nourished in ther reproductive system until the young are mature enough to be released to the outside.
