This species is an arboreal fruit-eater, but will take insects and small reptiles, eggs and nestlings of other birds, and frogs. It is the sole member of this well-known family to be found in Trinidad, but does not occur in Tobago. It keeps largely to the tree-tops and rarely descends to near the ground.
