Greyhound breeders and the tracks have been working for many years setting up a network of placement groups. They pay these groups to find retirement homes for the dogs. There are many more retired greyhounds than active ones, largely because they quit racing at five or earlier and can live to be 15-16 years old.

Retired grayhounds find homes. I have a friend who has adopted 3. They are sweet-natured pets who adapt nicely to home life.
I love watching them run . . . . yet I hate the way they are discarded after they are no longer able to run fast. They seem to live for that moment when they can fly like the wind, no matter how brief! I guess that is the way we all live. Seemingly it's too brief in many ways. i enjoyed looking at these.
