An innovative approach to camping is to stay in the 'treehouses' at Les Refuges Perchés ( https://www.refugesperches.com/en/) located in Park Eco des Laurentides in Quebec, two hours northeast of ottawa. The treehouses are cabins raised on stilts high above the ground. There is no running water or electricity, but there is a woodburning fireplace and a propane stove, with drinking water at the main centre and water for washing from the lake. Parking is 20 minutes from the treehouse site. The park has fantastic scenery, rolling hills, waterfalls, streams, massive fern and moss covered boulders, and an abundance of stunning hiking trails. They also place a big emphasis on sustainability and eco-awareness. We spent three days and wish it had been three weeks.
