Fisher tracks

We found one set of fisher tracks in the woods and followed them until they crossed a road and went into the woods on the other side. In places, you could see where the fisher had used logs to walk along, the tracks appearing again on the other side. These are large members of the weasel family, and very secretive. I've only ever seen one (and one dead on the road), but have seen tracks many times, though not in this particular area before.

Cool find! We looked for them in New Hampshire, and I hear there are some south of us too, but never have seen one.

This image is evocative of winter mystery and most appropriate for such a cryptic species.

Fascinating, again, although I'm sure glad you explained what a fisher was ;-). Super capture of the tracks; next, a picture of one! V.
