Northern paper wasp (Polistes fuscatus)

A native species that is very similar to the slightly smaller European paper wasp (polistes dominula), it builds a very similar nest. The adults feed on rotting fruit, nectar and other sweet substances, but feed chewed up insects to their larvae (protein!).
