Sawfly larva (Nematus sp.)

Mer Bleue area

Found on a poplar sapling along with about 12 of its kin! This was the only one with a white head and may have just moulted from one instar to the next. There were varying sizes of larvae on the leaf. These are NOT caterpillars. They will become a wasp-like insect in the order Hymentoptera (bees, wasps, sawflies and ants).

Great close up with these details. I especially like the translucent legs and alien looking head. "V"
