Sleeping raccoon

Sleeping raccoon

Fast asleep, high up in a tree in the middle of the woods, this raccoon was almost oblivious to noises below, though every so often an ear twitched, just to let us know he was not entirely unaware.

I would have liked it to be a fisher, but unfortunately it wasn't! He lifted his head up once to give us the once over and then back to sleep. Definitely a raccoon, and there was a second one higher up in the tree, but too far for a shot. I keep hoping to find a fisher in a similar position, but no luck yet!

Did he show his face at all? Cuz i've spent alot of time out in the woods and i think you have yourself a more rare find than just a coon sleeping in a tree. Looks to me like a pine martin/fisher. Either way, great shot.

Super shot Christine, but you should have tickled it a bit (after getting the first few shots). LOL.
