Close up of coyote (Canis latrans) scat showing he'd been feasting on apples

This pile of very fresh scat was in the middle of a track (another, older, pile was further down the same track) leading to some apple trees. It is easy to see what this coyote has been eating. People are surprised that these animals will eat fruit, but they do, and they enjoy it. The apple trees are part of an old homestead, long, long since vanished. All that marks the site now are these old apple trees, a row of lilac bushes and an old foundation. In addition to apples, coyotes will eat seeds and berries.
