I love art! I love photography! It was only a matter of time until the two came together in my life, and they did with the advent of digital cameras and Photoshop. I left my paints and brushes behind and fulfilled my artistic needs in an entirely new way. I have never looked back.
I quickly sought ways to push my photography toward art through the use of special techniques using only my camera. That was the first thing I learned and many of my photographs are still created using only camera techniques.
Other photographs grew out of my exploration of Photoshop. I soon discovered a variety of ways to combine techniques available through layers, masks, channels, and brushes. I began to regain the control over a photograph that I previously had over canvas or paper. As a result, my work is built as if it were a painting but with more options at my fingertips.
My background is in art and interior design. I worked for several years as an interior decorator in Palo Alto, California. I also taught high school art for several years in Burlingame, California, and Pennville, Indiana.
I owe my skill in photography to my husband. He has loved photography all his life. Ever since the winter day in Bryce Canyon when we tried to share one camera, I have had my own equipment and developed my own style. But my talented husband, with his vast technical skills, has been at my side to help me learn how to get the camera to give me the results I want. We have been photographing together for over 30 years. Our children and their spouses are also photographers.
I strive to keep my art positive and filled with light and color. My hope is to bring joy to others who feel the same when they look at my artwork.
