Leominster Ma - Moose vs Car - 2006

A women driving along a stretch of Rt 12 encountered this Moose out of nowhere and in front of her auto it turned when it was struck from behind. The moose ended up going over the hood of the car and into the passenger seat. The Moose weighed in at 600lbs and said to be a young cow. The women was able to bring the car to a stop and get out with only a scratch from the windshield glass. The animial was trainqulized which allowed firefighters to use the jaws and cutters to remove it from the car.

The Game Warden took the Moose away where he had to put it down due to the legs being broken.

I got messed up pretty good but survived. I still have a vibrant Army career--just finished a tour in iraq. I can swim and DEF stil ride motorcycles.

Wonderful gallery to show how you are helping animals from dieing. One of my friends had a equal accident with a wild boar, with didnīt end happy for the boar. Vote

Ummm, wake up folks. Especially those of you attempting humor. This is poor animal who, by no fault of her own was hit by a car. She is suffering in the final, agonizing moments of her life.

It seems to be up posted here as quasi-news, quasi-entertainment.

Before anyone says, 'But it's reality...' -- so is child rape reality. Also reality are murders where the victim dies slowly and in agony in front of his/her family. Also reality captured in photos and on video: humans being eviscerated in accidents and living for hours thereafter. In at least two cases I know of, trying to push their organs back into their torsos as they're dying.

I work in visual forensic evidence, and have seen all the above, and equally 'reality' photos and video.

Because these things happen - and happen on camera - does not mean the public should see them. I, or the police depts and prosecutors I work, for should be able to post them under the guise of 'Well, it happened so therefore I should be allowed to photograph it, strobing the suffering animal in her face, so that Pbase visitors can compliment me on it.'

I am a liberal, and am generally against censorship. But when it comes to a human or creature in agony - though no faulty of its own - it should not be photographed, or posted for the public to gawk at as it lives its last moments in horrendous pain and fear.

Secondly, a dear friend of mine lost her only daughter a few years ago to a, to quote this sick Pbase user, "Moose vs. Car" accident. It was also in Massachusetts. I would feel 100% as disgusted by these photos even if that had not happened. But if you don't give a crap about animals suffering, perhaps you might consider the feelings of people who have lost loved ones to accidents involving cars smashing into animals. I don't know the stats, but it probably happens many times each year.

Wow, thanks for sharing this, it's something we 'non emergency services' folk don't get to see. How miraculous the moose landed in the passenger side, and it went backside first! It must have been thinking WTF!! How did I get here......sad to read on that it had to be put down though :-)

Bet the woman went out and bought a lottery ticket the next day....
