Scott, I love your site..... I'm looking for a picture of yours, which has been in several slideshows... the last FFD ball, and one at slatteries...it's older... I think, maybe Jackson St. Fitchburg..... FFD Pawlak.... He's out of the fire having his tank changed and steam is rolling off his helmet... Can you find it for me?

Thanks.

It was great meeting you in Kennebunkport, and sharing stories about Buffalo, NY. Keep up the good work. Hope to run into you on a fire some day (make sure to get my good side, though my Brother Firefighters tell me I have no good side).

Just a quick note to encourage you to keep up the good work! All of your fireground shots are interesting...some are stunning...and a few are instructive in terms of firefighter behavior and safety.

Hello Scott, Thank you for helping me at the hocke game tonight. Most pictures cam out good, onlt a few great ones. And some I moved to quick.
Guest 05-Jan-2010 05:01
To All You Defenders: Would you want a photo of a personal tragedy ie a car accident or a suicide of a loved one etc posted on a public website without your consent, sold for 7 dollars? You love the fire-fighting, The Brotherhood, that's clear. There is a way to recognize their work in good taste, and with appropriate timing. Just food for thought.

Roger 29-May-2008 23:29
Great site. I found you from a link from FirstDue's photo site. He covers the area where I grew up, and you cover where I live now! In fact, the South Street fire was in my neighborhood. If you see Vinnie from E3, tell him that Roger from Clarendon St. said hello, and asked how his dog Mick was doing.

Hi Scott, thanks for commenting on my wedding gallery. All the pictures were processed from raw using Photoshop. The white balance were adjusted in raw although most were pretty much auto wb except the indoor shots at the beginning. These needed adjusting quite a bit using the wb tool and selecting a white point in the picture.
You have a great gallery, keep up the good work. Cheers, Kevin

How many fires did Leominster have during those 3 days?

Claudette 29-Oct-2007 21:40
Scott, nice work. I love the detail shots, badges helmuts etc. I currently take photos of the Macomb Twp. Fire Dept. in Macomb Twp., Michigan. I am a Fire Corps member. We don't have fires like you boys in Boston, but I try to get out everytime the word fire comes out on the radio. I like your website name. I will say when I hear smoke showing on the radio my heart rate excelerates! How are you able to shoot on scene? If you'd like to check out my site you can log onto : www.thephotophreak.com. I am not allowed to use any reference to MTFD (political bull crap) on my site so you can click on the galleries or cool shots button. If you want to put my link on your site feel free.

Lynda Blair 10-Apr-2007 02:29
Scott..Thanks so much for letting me know about the Moose. I really appreciate that. I've done some research and saw the differences between the MKII and the MKIIn. Wish I could have afforded the "n" since it seems to have a few bells and whistles I would liked to have had.
Sensor-wise, I guess they are the same?
Thanks again,
Lynda
Lynda Blair 09-Apr-2007 20:57
Thanks for your comments on my MKII gallery. My son is a volunteer firefighter here in VA. I will send him the link to your site. We are originally from Pittsfield, MA
The Moose pics upset me pretty badly. I didn't think they would shoot it..
Wish I hadn't seen that :(

Hi Scott
I'm a retired professional firefighter having served on the 'Blue Watch' at Station 17 Aberdare in the Mid Glamorgan Fire Service, Wales, UK. I find, with the exception of the moose, that most of our incidents are roughly the same, road traffic accidents, house fire, industrial incidents, animal rescues. I enjoyed looking through your collection and will also browse the links provided. Just enjoy landscapes now.

Hi Scott, great site. I have started my own pbase site. It is still in it's infancy, but you are more than welcome to check it out. It features incidents and apparatus shots from southern worcester county and where ever else my travels take me. http://www.pbase.com/emergencyservicepics
Matt 08-Nov-2006 13:24
Nice comment towards Kevin F-Town. It just shows that not only do most of the people that live in Fitchburg have no class, but some of the people that work there don't either. Another comment that goes above and beyond ball-busting.
F- TOWN "THE REAL DEAL" 07-Nov-2006 19:42

Scott, great site with awesome photos. I'd like to see the Worcester Cold Storage photos sometime. Great job.
Gregg Fitzhume 24-Oct-2006 12:48
I was surprised to learn that there are still such a large number of volunteer fire departments in Mass. It is inspiring to see these unpaid folks outside in the cold weather doing what they can to help a neighbor in Fitchburg.
Ed Hershey 23-Oct-2006 00:16
Hi Scott: Love your photographs of St. Johns East...thats my son...Mark Hershey...a family tradition...remember when he used to go with me in our home town of Orrville, Ohio...
Keep up the good work
Guest 18-Oct-2006 12:19
Well, with the exception of the 10-75 in the Bronx, looks like your luck has given our brothers in the FDNY another weekend of rest from fires. Nice work as always, Scott. I think Mikey needs a manager. Let me know if you need a hand with that. The boy's got potential. Mutt.
Peter Matthews 06-Oct-2006 00:06
Scotty,
You're photos are looking great. Not bad since I first met you six years ago--you have done a really wonderful job and make the Leominster-area firefighters look great. Keep up the good work, pal!

I am a Fire Protection Engineering from Rhode Island. Dave Demers,P.E. of the Lunenburg,MA
Fire Department made me aware of your web site. I have been enjoying it because I can get
first hand knowledge of fire duty in the region, rather than the embelished version sometimes provided by my buddy from the LFD. I have also enjoyed your photos of FDNY, as my daughter has lived in NYC for the last 7 or 8 years, and I am a frequent visitor to FDNY facilities. Keep up the good work. I look forward to meeting you some day.

PJ Roy 13-Sep-2006 02:17
Scott I came on looking for pictures of the Leominster fire the other day. Did Vinny get any let me know. Scott thats great the guys from FDNY are writing you. I think we all know in the area how valuable your pictures are to all of us. I hope we can all never forget the 343 from FDNY that gave it all 5 years ago. Is that guy on Rescue 2 or what? see ya at the big one!
Smoke Showing Photography by Scott A. LaPrade 13-Sep-2006 00:46
Wow !!! FDNY thanks so much for that endorsement. You didnt leave me your email address so please feel free to send it to my personal address..ffphotog@aol.com. I appreciate you taking the time to view my web-site it's always an honor to shoot photos of the FDNY in action. I am looking forward to my next visit in October where my son and I plan on getting the FDNY doing what they do best. Thank you again. Scott
Guest 12-Sep-2006 03:03
Scott you are a great photographer. A great website and I think that people should appreciate your website rather than use it as a chat room. I am on one of the busiest rescues in the nation. These guys are probably from a town that probably wets themselves over a cover page in the local newspaper and would have no idea what to do with a fire if it bit them in the ass. To bad a couple of guys "who claim to have a lot of time on the job" and bitch about wearing a mask at a car fire have to use a great photographers website to claim their manhood. They will probably be asking you for pictures at one of the six fires they had this year. I did not want to use your website for this and won't again but a guestbook on your website should be used to say "thanks for the pictures" not pick apart a training seminar that you did not have anything to do with but take some great photos. If they want give them my address and I would be more than happy to let them dig through the trash for the last three helmets that I had to throw in the trash because they were so burnt. Then they could put them on the mantel instead and tell war stories about that over the phone. Thanks again for the spending some time in New York. Your welcome anytime. FDNY

Scott, I am enjoying your photos. I also saw several in the local paper today.
Da burg 26-Aug-2006 14:53
Da boro well you must be a medic anything that ends in boro, means they hired medics first and then had to train them in firefighting. All EMS all the time which resorts back to my comments that the people that get frustrated like yourself DA BORO or the guest earlier must either be on an ambulance or a department that does no fires. Ha all in fun though! Medic/Firefighter from Da Boro.
Da Boro 25-Aug-2006 22:33
Wow Da Burg took those comments from guest to heart.:-( I read it like it was ment to be, just breaking balls. :) Sounds like Da Burg has an axe sideways up his ass with all his crying. He can dish it out but he can't take it.
Scott, great site glad to see the pictures from Shrewsbury. It was juicey for a while. Wish we had been able to get more ourselves, but being second due pump and helpin out a neighbor with mutual aid didn't leave us much time for pics.
Da Burg 25-Aug-2006 20:44
Hey maybe someday all the burners will be gone in our City but for now they seem to be sticking around. ha!
F- TOWN "THE REAL DEAL" 25-Aug-2006 14:25
OH YEA, 3 BANGER IN THE BURG LAST NIGHT! GROUP 4 GET'IN IT DONE!
Matt 25-Aug-2006 02:38
I guess tomorrow there will be some new pics up of yet another fire in Fitchburg, wish we could all be so lucky. Although while covering Leominster I got to go on a medical. Yay.
Guest 24-Aug-2006 23:01
Hey Da Burg, like you said just Bustin Balls. It don't mean a thing. I don't get mad just bust balls like any other brother. Yeah we do medicals as well as fires. Its all part of the job of helping people. The EMS side helps pay the bills. Im not crying and not disgruntled, jealous, ....... not, just bustin em. 20 + years of being a career firefighter and I still love it. Would be nice to see more fires. Yes some do get more that others. I've been in my share both in my town and neighboring towns. Still plenty to come. Yeah I get along great with the people I work with. You have to on a smaller deptartment. I doubt that we will ever see each other at the big one. Just too far apart. Oh well my loss. No thanks about smellin anything you've been wearing. But if you want to smell mine you are welcome to. Bustin yours. NFD
rudy 24-Aug-2006 15:21
Scottie, you need to find out who the Da Burg is. I look forward to his ball breaking...anyway, great job on keeping the site updated. I know its hard with all the fires the Twin cities get...
Guest 22-Aug-2006 19:06
A superior job done in Sterling. Finally, smoke and fire. Mutt.
Matt 22-Aug-2006 15:58
I like Da Burg's comments, breaking balls is what we do. I only wish his city would hire some people maybe I can get on. Oh wait, I'm qualified to do the job so I wouldn't cut it up there anyway....
Da burg 18-Aug-2006 17:06
This will be my last comment on this guestbook, Scott you have a great site the pictures are quality, and make for great memories. All firefigters work very hard in todays world of undermanning. All my comments are just breaking balls and never meant to offend anyone. Seems like a few out there can't take the ball breakin so I will stop. Don't want anyone to cry. See ya
Da Burg 18-Aug-2006 16:56
Another person who calls him or herself a firefighter, first and foremost its just ball breakin which this person obviously can't take. Second, you write like you are mad or something but don't have the balls to leave a real name. Blow hard, that is origanal, your disgruntledness leads me to believe you are on either an ambulance or a department that does zero fires. Jealousy will get you no where! honestly no city or town does alot of fire anymore some do more than others, ball breakin is a part of the fire service so you must be another well liked individual in your place of work. See ya at the big one, or atleast you will read about it! ha maybe you can smell some of the guys from the burgs gear. loosen up!
Guest 17-Aug-2006 00:43
Da Burg, what a Blow Hard you are. Nice cat rescue though. Won't be to much longer and all the burners will be gone in your town woops I mean city and you can sit back and watch the rest doin the real job that you keep flappin your gums about.
colin 16-Aug-2006 00:59

Thats right take it all now DA Burg, then it WILL be our turn.....! Just a matter of time!
Da Burg 18-Jul-2006 03:20
Here we go again sports fans, the burg is getting hot although only a working fire, the fighting second knocks another one down, and makes quick work of another fire. Don't worry all you Leominster firefighters there will still be plenty of car fire work for you guys ohhh ya and medicals too. Fitchburg Engine 1 getting the job done, the pride of South Fitchburg.

Da Burg 07-Jul-2006 17:39
Don't worry Scott even though you are a Leominster Firefighter, you do a hell of a job taking pictures and with this site. We don't need some asshole telling everyone what is wrong with their department. You take pictures so people can have memories and great pictures. That FYR MAN is some asshole who is on an ambulance somewhere else, and has seen zero fire just likes to find the wrong in everything. Just worry about you Fyr man never mind what other departments are doing. Ohh ya and get some time.

Da Burg 28-Jun-2006 02:59
Hey Fyr Man who the hell are you another do gooder who points out everything wrong with every picture a real Monday morning quarterback. Great job! another Firefighter who succesfully qualifies as an asshole. Well, the car fire still got put out and so did the hay bails in Worcester while you are dicking around with your air pack, the real firefighters where putting the fire out. Yes, you will feed us some bullshit about safety this and how you are going to live longer than all of the world cause you got your air pack on while going to the call, you are a yard breather to I am sure. Well, keep up the good work I am sure you are the most well like person were you come from. (not)
rudy 24-Jun-2006 01:11
nice job scottie...

How many of the firefighters got smoke inhalation at those car fires? Doesn't LFD have air packs available?
Fyr man 15-Jun-2006 01:20
We saw a lot of safety violations on the Dist. 7 live burn pics. It's a good thing nobody got hurt.

hey scott nice job on the site. hey we were just check"in out leominster fires web site, especially the slide show. You should just call it the fichburg fire show or the leominster fire mutual aid show. Because really, thats what it is , but if you did one about medicals and M.V.A's you would be the real deal!
Da Burg 02-Jun-2006 01:06
To Scott another 2 fires in Fitchburg and let me see oh ya none for Leominster, And I am guessing that Vach guy is Lt. Vachon from Devens another community that see's the same amount of fires as Leominster. Maybe thats why there is no pictures of him, Just a few from the outside attack ashburnham put together at the hardware store. See ya in the burg. They seem to be getting hot again.

Nice Job Scott! Finally you caught the Leominster firefighters at something burning, Give the Fitchburg guys a break. They deserve it I think they see 2 to 1 fires over Leominster. Oh well! see ya at the next Medical.

Mutt 02-Apr-2006 13:05
Nice job. Keep up the good work. Too bad nobody will see you all dirty when you're working.
Bill 01-Apr-2006 18:11
This is an amazing site. Your candid shots make it impossible for anyone to not have a tremendous amount of respect, admiration, and appreciation for what you all do. People watch fires on the news and see it glamorized in movies, but no one can understand what it must be like when you and your fellow fighters arrive on scene.

These documents help others experience the events vicariously: perhaps as close as will ever be possible. Keep doing this work: it benefits your community in the present, and will serve as invaluable primary source documents for the future. In a hundred years, a student will ask, "What was it like?" And your images will be there to describe it.
