Pictures taken in and around the old Chesterfield County courthouse, a handsome brick building constructed in 1884 to replace the one General Sherman burned down. Chesterfield county is in the Pee Dee region of upstate SC, an area of rolling sand hills and pines. The old courthouse is currently under the care of the Chesterfield District Chapter of the SC Genealogical Society who is using its first floor for their research, art exhibitions and a museum of collected antiques, and for continued storage of county legal records. The second floor, as yet unrestored, is a beautiful old courtroom.
