These pictures are from a too-short holiday with Frances, driving a rented car too many Kilometres around just one bit of the South Island of New Zealand, in December 2000. Christchurch - Akaroa- Timaru - Dunedin - Te Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown - Hokitika - Christchurch. Came back with five rolls of exposed film and an hour or two of mini-DV. The local D & P shop did a very bad job of printing the pictures. This was what inspired me to get a scanner and Photoshop and fix them up, and get a digital camera to replace my Minolta Alpha 303si. Now (2007) I have a better scanner and a more critical eye, so have set myself the task of re-scanning the negatives and replacing the images in this gallery with improved versions. (At a very leisurely rate.)
July 2008: That job more than half done; the difference between new and old is instructive and embarrassing.
