Something unusual about this dragon

Shanghai

Our guide pointed out some feature of this dragon which made it different (I used the word "unique");
I couldn't quite understand this at the time, or perhaps I wasn't listening carefully, but a year later,
having asked for suggestions, I received an explanation from a guest to pbase. Read the comment.

What is unique, is that, it is not a dragon. In old China, dragons are only allowed to be displayed on emperor’s residence. This garden was not an emperor's residence. Therefore this "dragon" only has three claws as oppose to the standard five for a true dragon.
