The first real day of the Aurora Ecuador Expedition. A day trip by bus from Quito to Otavalo, with one stop to photograph magnificent views, another to photograph a slightly less magnificent monument in a village square claimed to be exactly on the equator, and a third at a cafe-souvenir-shop where there were toilets, llamas and a lady singing. The market at Otavalo allowed some of our group to contribute to the Ecuadorian economy. Then a village where we saw how those wonderful traditional colorful garments were made, and a workshop to watch traditional musical instruments being made and played.. And a late Ecuadorian lunch at a house with a lovely garden. Altogether a good day.
