Hurricane Alex followed a week later by a tropical depression resulted in heavy rains in South Texas and the mountains of northern Mexico. Heavy inflow from this moisture has filled both Amistad and Falcon Reservoirs and caused flooding along the Rio Grande. Where the river is not bounded by steep banks the flooding is the worst in over twenty years.
