Notice the notch or V in the mountain range. The road to El Cielo, either by foot or truck, is very steep, rising from 350 to 1000 meters in a distance of 3.5 km. During the summer heat, this is an exhausting climb. One goes to the first terrace in the canyon, then a winding second climb to the top of the ridge. This is an extreme four-wheel drive only road.
