Message from Xabier Mikel Laburu Van Woudenberg
Welcome to my 'mainly' press portfolio. In these last 13 years I've been working mainly as a photojournalist, the truth is that I started in this at 18 and being a very amateur photographer in a local magazine where I use to work only on the weekend. I started with a Canon AT-1 from my parents, the 50mm. that came with it, and a small zoom of 35-70 of a brand I don't even remember.
I have to say that I always have had good moments and bad moments. Sometimes I had to work in any job in order to survive economically and in other occasions, specially these last 6 or 7 years, I've been working full time as a photojournalist. In one occasion as staff photographer in a daily newspaper or mainly as a freelancer, sometimes I don’t know what is best.
As I said previously things haven’t been easy not even now after all these years, times change and technology to, in some aspects for good in others simply in a negative way. But in any case after all these years I think that I have some material that is worthy to be shown further away then the media I work or have worked for, this web page is not only for job porpoises but also for the general public. It’s not only to show my work, I also wold like that it wold encourage people that like to do things in photography.
So I hope anyone that has a look my portfolio likes the different works I've posted, and if possible it serves to show and teach, and why not? learn to from your impressions. Come in and see a bit of what is a small portion of this huge world, at least part of what I've been able to see and photograph.
